2012 FIT-U Training and Education


Welcome to Flight #2012. We are prepared to take off into the New Year. Please make sure your Attitude and Blessings are secured and locked in, in the upright position. All self-destructive devices should be turned off at this time. All negativity, hurt, and discouragement should be put away. Should we lose altitude or pressure during flight, reach up and pull down a Prayer! Prayers will automatically be activated by Faith. Once your Faith is activated you can assist other passengers. There will be NO BAGGAGE allowed on this flight. The Captain has cleared us for takeoff --Destination - GREATNESS!!

January opens up our Natural Running and Certification coaching clinic with Newton (see below). In February NO BOUNDARIES takes our beginners to new heights and Starting Line gets your kids off the computer. By March we tackle a Womens Tri 101 Training program to take you to Danskin, develop your Yoga 4 Runners skills and work on your Metabolic Effect. By the time we round out the summer, join our 1/2 and full marathon training group as we head to Savannah to Rock and Roll with Brooks. Read on.........

Fleet Feet Sports NO BOUNDARIES® beginners Co-Ed Walk / Run training program: Session will be located at Fleet Feet Sports In Altamonte Springs. Walking and running in groups is the focus with nutrition and proper stretching routines.

Our Spring 2012 Starting Line Youth Fitness running program will run simultaneously to the NO BOUNDARIES program. This is beneficial for those parents who would like to run while their kids run or vice versa. Registration is open for this 10 week session.

Train for Danskin Triathlon with TRI 101

We are proud to announce our first Womens Triathlon training group and tri team scheduled for Kickoff in March. All abilities will be welcomed for this 10 week group effort to get you ready for Danskin. Pearl Izumi will sponsor the entire program and provide apparel and shoe purchase incentives, FREE schwag and team shirt to all participants.

Train with Jane
This 10 week group training program targets the Danskin Womens Triathlon, May 2012. Training begins in March and exact kickoff date will be announced in February. This group is lead by Jane Ducey, an exercise physiologist with a degree in education and coaching, and has coached triathlon for over 10 years. She has over 19 years of triathlon experience at all distances.
 Pearl Izumi
This program will cover all technical aspects of participating in the sport of triathlon, as well as education in raising your level of health and fitness.
NOTE:  This program is designed for those who have rudimentary swimming skills or better. This program is not for those who have extreme fear of the water.

Training includes skills, drills, endurance training, open water swim experience, nutrition education, motivation, equipment education,  injury prevention, cheers and FUN! Jane is a big believer in the power of the group and team-building. 
 
Group meetings:
Tuesday Evenings @ 6:30PM and Saturday Mornings @ 7:00PM Times are subject to change
 
Each participant will be given coaching on proper techniques, strategies to meet your goals successfully, and weekly training guide for each week by email.

Session cost: 
 $249 for a 10 week session with a $20 discount if registered at the info meeting. This will include an "in-training" Technical T-shirt from Pearl Izumi.  There may be additional facility usage charges (example: entry to Wekiva Springs).

NEWTON NATURAL RUNNING™ FORM COACH CERTIFICATION

Newton Natural Running™ form coaching certification provides coaches with knowledge designed to assist clients with efficient running form, injury prevention and training goals.

  • Practice a Newton Natural Running™ form (e.g. Chi, Pose, Evolution, barefoot)
  • Attend a two day coaching certification clinic
  • Pass written, oral and/or practical examination
Certified Newton Natural Running™ Form Coaches can:
  • Teach and analyze Newton Natural Running™ form
  • Present Newton Natural Running™ talks and clinics
  • Use Newton Natural Running™ certified logos and marks
  • Obtain a free listing on newtonrunning.com

YOGA 4 RUNNERS
Yoga 4 Runners

Coming in February..
Yoga 4 Runners will be geared toward helping you achieve sound core strength, agility and balance with your running. These sesssions will be held on Sunday mornings at 10:00AM and are limited to 20 participants. New to Yoga? No worry, each session will be limited in scope and focused on the tools you need for your run. A local instructor or mentor geared toward introducing you to our locally owned Yoga friends.

Are you a Yoga instructor or own a studio? If you would like to participate in this program and offer your services please contact us.

Session Cost is $5 for 1 hour.

Newton Natural Running™ Symposia & Form Clinic

Starting Line

On January 28th and 29th Fleet Feet Sports will host the Natural Running Certification program with Newton.
The event will include a FREE clinic provided by Natural Running coaches, educators and staff from Newton.

Come to our first Newton Natural Running™ Symposium to learn how to run faster, stronger, more efficiently and with less injury.

TOPICS INCLUDE:

  • Fundamentals of Biomechanics
  • The Science Behind Newton Running Shoes
  • Injury Prevention

Metabolic Effect Training
When you can change your metabolism, your body will become stronger and you will become faster. Metabolic Effect is a New High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) that targets the fat burning and muscle building hormonal response to exercise. For beginners and advanced. Improves athletic performance. Requires 2 rubber covered dumbells (new to HIIT training should bring 5 lb and experienced should bring 8-10lb) and an exercise mat.  Bring water. 30 minute classes.
