Team Sanford-Burnham
What is Team Sanford-Burnham for Medical Research?
Members of Team Sanford-Burnham will begin training on August, 14th, to complete theWalt Disney World Marathon (26.2 miles) & Half Marathon (13.1 miles) on Saturday, January 8 and Sunday, January 9, in Orlando, Florida. Along with training for the race, each member of Team Sanford-Burnham will do their part by raising $2,500 to support breakthrough scientific discoveries related to provide vital support for research for a number of diseases including: Alzheimer’s Disease • ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) • Anthrax • Arthritis • Bone mineralization disorders • Cancer, including: • Brain Cancer • Breast Cancer • Leukemia • Lung Cancer • Lymphoma • Melanoma • Multiple Myeloma • Pancreatic Cancer • Prostate Cancer • Skin Cancer • Ovarian Cancer • Child Health • Congenital metabolic disorders • Crohn’s Disease • Diabetes • Heart Disease • Muscular Dystrophy • Parkinson’s Disease • Stroke
Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute receives:
- ALL funds raised by Team Sanford-Burnham for Medical Research members will directly support disease research at the Institute (once marathon and travel costs are covered)
- Additional awareness and attention about the cutting-edge research underway at Sanford-Burnham

The Central Florida Gliders is a youth track & field, and cross country club serving boys and girls (8 and above), primarily in Seminole County and Orange County.
